曲への想い

言うまでもなく

ロバート・ルイス・スティーブンソン「ジキル博士とハイド氏」

を原作としたブロードウェイミュージカル

舞台は何度見ても飽きない

完成度が際立っている。

キャストは鹿賀丈史でも石丸幹二でも良いのだけれど、

やっぱりハイドを演じるときの

シャツがちぎれるほどの凶暴さは必要

この役のリアルさが出せない

どうしてもオリジナルのRobert Cuccioliだったり、

DVDのDavid Hasselhoffのような頑強なタイプが

このミュージカルには合っている。

この曲もジギルとしての歌なのだが、

相当タフネスが求められる

ただ洋々と胸を鳴らしているだけでは物足りない

ネバネバした粘りのあるのどの鳴らしと、

パワーが決め手となる

そんなイメージで取り組むのだが、

歌うたびに現実とのギャップに打ちひしがれる

自分なりに鳴らしているつもりなのだが、

パワー不足なのだ

ともあれジギルになったつもりで歌うしかない

いつもそんな焦りに襲われる
